SLS(Selective Laser Sintering)

 

This technology uses powder spreading to lay a layer of powder material flat on the upper surface of the formed part, and heating it to a temperature just below the sintering point of the powder. The control system controls the laser beam to scan on the powder layer according to the layer's cross-sectional profile, causing the powder's temperature to rise to the melting point, and then sintering and bonding with the formed part below. After the completion of the first layer, the workbench decreases by one layer of thickness, and the paving roller lays a layer of uniformly dense powder on top, conducting the sintering of a new layer of cross-section until the entire model is completed.

 

Advantages of SLS technology:

 

1) Multiple materials are available. Its available materials include various options such as polymers, metals, ceramics, gypsum, nylon, etc. Especially metal powder materials are currently one of the most popular development directions in 3D printing technology.

 

2) The manufacturing process is simple. Due to the large range of material choices, this process can directly produce complex-shaped prototypes, three-dimensional construction of cavity molds, or components and tools based on different materials.

 

3) High precision. It is generally possible to achieve a tolerance of (0.05-2.5) mm within the overall range of the workpiece.

 

4) No support structure is required. The suspended layer formed during the stacking process can be directly supported by the unsintered powder.

 

5) High material utilization rate. It has the highest material utilization rate among the common 3D printing technologies and is relatively inexpensive.
