SLM (Selective Laser Melting) SLM 3D printing technology uses metal powder to directly print metal parts. it is also known as Direct Metal Laser Sintering. When printing, the powder roller lays a layer of metal powder on the formed steel base, and the laser beam will selectively melt the powder according to the cross-sectional profile of each layer of the part, forming the current layer. After one layer of sintering is completed, the Z-axis descends by the height of a cross-section layer. The powder roller lays another layer of metal on the formed cross-section layer, then this layer is sintered. This process is carried out layer by layer until the entire part is sintered. The entire forming process is carried out in a vacuum or a processing room filled with protectors to avoid metal reacting. Currently, the density of metal parts formed by SLM is up to 99% of the density of casted metal parts
